Last post for some time, folks. This is going to be it for a while.
Long story not made very short, but short enough for full context:
Life has reached one of those stages where things are just too hectic. I can't do it all. It's really that simple. The attempt at trying to swat these political and philosophical issues--these clouds of flies--would wear me to a frazzle. It's time to spend more time with the family and the adventures of sons and wife and dogs and pets and house and getting a few things done around here, fun and otherwise.
As my readers know from gazing at the posts and from the personal correspondence, and the "ABOUT THIS BLOG" section, I have a wide range of interests, thought it seems of late I've rarely gotten around to posting about more than politics. While that's my background, I was hoping to write more personal reflections on things ranging from just the tribulations of life, to coffee brands, pet issues, exotic animals, theology and other spiritual related topics. Have to do a rain check on some of those, I guess. Someday.
Things are coming fast and furious in politics lately, with every day bringing new weirdness to the body politic, and yielding new heights of belligerence from some quarters on everything from government control of major aspects of health, money, economy, and more, to the chummy coddling of the Sons of Allah, and what Thomas Sowell has called "NOTIONAL Security."
There is indeed a general feeling that with 10% unemployment and a 9-year "good and necessary" Afghan war (so liberals said about this one vs. George W. Monkey Satan Bush's Iraq campaign) approaching a decade now, this administration features not just incompetence, but utter incomprehension of what's at stake both at home and abroad.
Oh yeah, then there are distant early warnings from our alleged European betters when it comes to nixing certain civil liberties on behalf of the "common good." Not that we've NEVER heard that one before.
But for some stories, like Sweden banning homeschooling and thus pushing the citizenry under yet more central authoritarian control, while truly interesting as they are scary (for, if Europe is our truly our direction, as the Left argues in other cases ranging from health care, to lax immigration rules, to massive government bureaucratic/busybody control, environmental policy, to Hamas terrorist outreach programs we need to be doing, then we're finished) I just can't get around to at all.
I'd love to cover more on Eric Holder's dropping of the baton handed to him from the Bush administration regarding the prosecution (voter intimidation, no less) of those two stick-thumping New Black Panther thugs from Philly during Election 08', and Obama's absurdist, legalese approach to the War on Terror (also accusing Al-Qaeda of racism, though I guess that does not apply to the Somali version?). One DOES hope Al-Qaeda can get around this moral short falling, and get back to nipping at everyone again soon, eh? (Actually, I'll mention for the moment it seems Al-Qaeda is an equal-opportunity murder syndicate. But I digress.)
I'd also like to go over more about the lackluster response on BP's Bay of Rigs disaster, the Iraq "we-can't-find-our-money" scandal, Leftist collusion to suppress some unfavorable media stories about Obama's connections, the emerging narrative on Tea Party racism, the St. Shirley Sherrod blowup apparently due to Big Government's Brietbart and his response to the NAACP's charges of Tea Party racism, and more.
Some real head-scratchers here, and much much more on the way, no doubt.
Yep. Love to cover it all. But not now. Someone else will have to fill in all that. And they will.
I'll be leaving the site up for a while, so regulars and guests alike should feel free to catch up on any posts they might have not gotten around to, or make comments, etc.
I'll correspond if and when I can, which will moments far and few in-between everything else going on. However, I'll also refer you to some other sites of interest.
Of course, check out the handy blogroll on the right hand side of the blog, but first please check into the posts of, oh, Chris Lostaglia's libertarian angle on things, Chuck Walker's cerebral flex Headmuscle site, BeastRabban's fantastic blog on theology, Church history, science and religion, Nicholas over on his insightful and accidentally created What the ...?! blog, April The Hyacinth Girl, IlĂon's curious Iliocentrism, RB Glennie's Anatomy of Culture, Kathy Shaidle's delightful Five Feet of Fury, the hilarious adventures Girl on the Right and her loyal companion chihuahua, Bug. And it's always a kick over at Steyn's place (though I think he has the summer off as well). Lastly, never let the sun go down on the last day of the week without checking into William A. Jacobson's Legal Insurrection.
All these kind folks are great people with whom I've corresponded with personally.
(If your site is somehow not mentioned and you feel left out I'm so very sorry. Contact me and I'll put you on the handy list!)
Take care, and hopefully at some point I'll be back in action. Sort of, anyhow.

An average conservative American's journal composed mostly of turgid babble on Politics, Capitalism, Business, Real Estate Appraisal, Family, Faith, Homeschooling, Theology, Science, Philosophy, Common (and uncommon) Sense--sometimes spritzed with reflections on how Poison Dart Frogs, Crocodiles, and Coffee can affect the Modern Age. Or... “Following--and occasionally dropping--some epistemological breadcrumbs down a path in the woods to--hopefully--enlightenment.”

What?!
Okay, we of the enlightened readership of Wakepedia, who, like Roger of Watts Up With That? fame have indeed taken the trouble to research Wakefield Tolbert and found that despite indications to the contrary he is in fact a real person with his own peculiar blog, we have been the beneficiaries of your insights, encyclopedic knowledge and curiously enticing humor for many a rainy day, and for all that and your freindship, we thank you.
Come visit us where you find us anytime.
Good on ya, Wakefield!
Well, this is a breather for now. Only. I hope, Nick.
But as to commentary, yours is there also, along with the curious other insight of Jim Tourtelott. Both also on the right hand side of the blog. And funny to boot!
I might swagger into your place or April's bar-n-grill watering hole or Ilion's curation of the curious from time to time. Who knows. But I need more time with the family and have some personal issues to attend. Just they way it is at this stage of life, Nick.

Best to you Wake. Hope to see you back in the blogosphere sooner than later.
If you ever get the itch to rant, you are always welcome at Head Muscle.

Thanks, Chuck!
Been busy these last several weeks, and don't anticipate that'll halt anytime soon. But I check in from time to time here and will do so also over at HM.

Thanks, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Happy New Year as well, Chuck.
Maybe I can at least post some pics of the (very) rare Christmas snow that hit the Carolinas!
